what ecu for this swap ?
My friend has a 96gsr motor in his 98 civic ex, what is the correct ecu he should be using , right now he is using a p2p , which i think is a ex ecu ,

really , i thought it couldnt be used , because his car is obd2 and so is the motor . please enlighten me

well provided that you want to keep it OBD2, go with the P72, that's standard on ALL 96+ obd2 teg's
if you wanted to simply do a obd2-obd1 harness swap, go with any others listed above
if you wanted to simply do a obd2-obd1 harness swap, go with any others listed above

Use the stock car harness. The GSR harness is 2-pieces and would be a pain in the neck to install into this car. You will have to extend a few wires and add a few on the stock harness, but it will be much easier.

Yes.
You need to have any 1996-1998 only P72 ECU.
The 99-01 ECUs have a different plug.
You could also run an OBD1 ECU with a jumper harness from kenji211@tampabay.rr.com and have more power with less OBD2 check engine lights.
