Default what swap should i go with?

I have a 99 civic ex 5speed, im looking to put either a b16 or a b18 in it. what motor do you guys recomend?
i do plan on turboing it down the road, but only like 8psi.
if i buy the b16 i plan on buying a skunk2 intake manifold, headers, and highflow cat or test tube, i already have the apexi N1 exhaust.
if i burchase the b18 it would be stock for a while until i could save up more money.
also im only looking for 250-300 whp
any input would be great, also does anyone have a fav place to buy motors?

250-300 is gonna be farrrrr away from a stock b18 or b16..

What kind of b18 are u looking to get? Gsr? type r ... or LS

PERSONALLY:

if i was on a tight budget, i would get an LS, and turbo it

Do a mild build on the engine, a nice clutch and turbo kit ( probably an ebay kit with just a different turbo)

B18b1, especially if you are going for turbo and looking to hit 300whp for the least amount of money.

http://www.hmotorsonline.com

You can even just get the short block and find yourself a LS/GSR/B16 trans depending on your daily driving needs along with axles, ecu's, linkage etc in the marketplace for cheap

i was looking at a gsr.. it would have cams, turbo etc money is an issue but its not at the same time lol. both motors drop right into a civic using stock motor mount locations correct? this car is a show car so im going for a little of everything, performance and styling, the stying part is already there so time for some get up and go

if you boost, youll be happy with either a b16 or b18 , and you can safely hit 250 on those motors.

just talked on the phone with hmotorsonline.com i can get a gsr motor for 540 bucks more than a b16, and the gsr has more hp and alot more torque. i think im gunna get the gsr motor. its a great motor for turbo from reading everything aswell. not to talk bad about the b16, just not enough tourque and power for the price i can get the gsr for. besides then my civic wont just be an si it'll be a gsr civic

If you are stuck on a motor swap (Bseries) I would honestly just go with the cheapest way possible to 250-300whp. Spending 3k +shipping on a GSR motor and then dumping another 3k on top of that for a turbo set up doesnt seem like the route that will give you less wallet ache.

Search the marketplace. I have seen at least 5 B18b1 motors and complete swaps being sold along with LS, B16, and GSR trans. You can pick the whole setup for less than 1500. Yeah I know, no warranty, but still. Think about it. If you really wanted to you could spend that 1500+ you saved on a mild mild build for your motor
