Default What intake do I need to get?

My car is a 98 civic ex with a b18b1 motor. I have an EM1 intake on it now, but I want to get a k&n or some other type of cai. Do I get the intake made for my car or for my engine?

I'm assuming I need a b series intake, so should I just get an intake meant for an Si?

U can use intercooler piping..and mold an intake to your liking, i suggest you do a cold air intake..Slap on a k&n filter

Agree with the intercooler piping. The premade intakes are way expensive for what they are.

I would suggest against K&N or AEM Dryflow or the other gauze/cloth/screen style filters. The oiled foam filters have actually been proven to filter out smaller particles and not lose air flow as quick as the K&N/AEM, etc filters.

There was a True Flow video that demonstrates what I'm talking about, but they went out of business. Uni, Perrin and a couple others are out there. They're cheaper than K&N too.

I know plenty of people swear the K&N filters are great, but if you hold it up to a light, you can see through them. The little holes that are letting in more air are also letting in the finer dirt particles. For a race vehicle, it's better than a piece of a screen door clamped over your intake.
I ran a K&N filter for a couple years. I cleaned it once and I was very surprised at how little dirt was trapped by it, and this was a new filter that came oiled and ready to go from the factory. I've looked at OEM filters and they will be covered with all kinds of dirt. Plenty of people have reported dirt in their air boxes, in their manifolds, increased amounts of particulates in their oil when sending in samples for analysis. This is what harms motors, contaminated oil.

OP: If you wanted to buy a complete intake, get one for a 00-99 Si.

And like others in this thread have pointed out, a good filter is key. I used to always use cheap no name cone filters and they don't filter out dirt at all and sometimes fall apart.

I had a filter that's like the one below and the small metal cap in the middle fell off and worked it's way up the intake tube and was getting stuck in front of my throttle body.
