what to do with a CX motor/tranny leftover from a swap...?
I got 2 CX motors/trannies leftover, just sitting around from doing B series swaps. One is toast from a headgasket blowing, the other is fine with only 75k miles.
Now what do I do?
Just toss 'em?
Or is it possible to build these into a "D series Si" equivalent or better if I do a whole tear down and rebuild with other parts?
Can I do any cheap turbo setups that will be worth my time?
Simpy are there weakpoints you cannot get around if you start with a CX tranny/block/head?
thanks guys.

I say find the cheapest shittiest 92+ Civic you can find, put it in there and hook up a huge thing of Nawwwzz to it. See how much power you can get out of it before it finally blows up.

sell it to the local honda or acura junkyard that way more money ends up in your pocket

I don't know any junkyard that buys parts like that. I work at one and we'd never buy motors or trannies from John Q public as seperate pieces.
They make great paper weights though.....

take off ther wire harness, starter, alt, sensors. Anything that you could sell or friends might need and then take it to a scrap metal place and get like 6 bucks for it!

okay okay okay I get the drift....
looks like it will become many things....
piston paperweights, engine block coffee table, head and other stuff to the metal yard, accessories will be parted out, tranny will be disassembled and made into artwork... then the 75k mile CX swap will go into my winter beater, a $500 crusty/dented red cx w/ no motor.

throw it in an EF chasis and have yourself a perfectly good back-up/daily driver.
I dont see the point in throwing it away, with only 75k, its still practically new!
Do you have all the parts for a swap?
Mike

Owen build a tube frame go-kart thats rear engine. Find a way to reverse the shift linkage and you probably dont need any gear but 1st. Then have a bad *** off road drifting go kart thats RWD.
Or.....
Just do like I did and sell it to some kid with a blown motor for $50

Take them apart and see how everything works first hand.....then try and put them back together..... Engine rebuilding 101.

I got $150 for mine. Sell it to the SCCA race guys, they have to use stock D-series motors in some classes and would be glad to grab one cheap that they might be able to "cheat" with. Turbo that thing though! You can get a turbo for about 50-100 on ebay and all the other little parts you can cook up yourself, it'd be fun. But you can get some money out of them they are good motors and a new motor for anyone who just wants a stocker is going to cost them twice as much anywhere else.

I said I don't want a title!
Re: what to do with a CX motor/tranny leftover from a swap...? (lonefuzzy79)
I think a few ITC Hondas might use that motor. I'd check with your local SCCA club to see if anyone is interested.
No since in doing something stupid with it if you can get a few $$ out of it.

I sold my 2000 cx swap for 700 bucks. I just put it in the local paper and got crazy calls on it. also, I sold my stock brake/4 lug setup for 300....lol. the newspaper in Sacramento rocks.
