Default Vtec vs non vtec

I have been looking at my parts that I have and thought has any body ever tryed to put a vtec cam in a non vtec head they are both 16 valves would it work

It wont work.

Vtec isn't only the cam, there is a lot more to it.

VTEC Cam's have different cam lobes from the Non-VTEC.
IIRC, Y7 has 16 cam lobes for the 16 valves, Y8 has 20 lobes for the 16 valves & 4 for the VTEC plates or whatever they're called.
If you want VTEC in your car, you'll need to change the whole head, wiring and a VTEC ecu.

Don't do a mini-me. Not worth the hassle. If nothing else, just go straight to B-series if you don't want to stick with your D.

The mini me is no good for just the power, but its good if your current head has no aftermarket cam available and you plan on building the d. Swapping to b isnt always the answer

Well iv never had money to build motors the right way so trail and earr witch means frankinstin moter parts from this to makes that like my biuld now d15z1 block d15b head p29 pistions and dx tranny
