Can you use a vtec cam in a non vtec engine?
Just as the topic says. I have someone that wants to buy my gude cam from my d16. They were wondering if it would work in a non vtec motor. Would it hurt anything?

I don't want to. I'm selling it and the kid wanted to know if it would work in his non vtec motor.

lol .....
should not work ...
since vtec cam have three lobes .. and non-vtec cam should have two lobes .. (depend yours is SOHC or DOHC) ....

Well, I don't think it would hurt anything. The middle lobe would just flap around in there doing nothing. It would still work, but since the cam is made for a Vtec motor, the remaining lobes wouldn't have enough lift probably......
So, yeah, it'd probably work, but make the car slower. Heh.

Pretty sure non of you are real Honda guys cause if you where you would know how vtech works and that yes it has a larger more aggressive grind to them the reason being is that the rockers work on a hydraulic solenoid and at higher rpm it kicks in giving you more power if you take the Cam and the rockers off of the vtech head you can get these retainers that lock all three lobes together both on intake and exhaust you would get a little more lope at idle and more power in the upper hand I hope I didn't school you kindergartens to much seeing how most of the post where laughing not understanding just how much power you can gain with it look that **** up on YouTube the Texas Honda guys channel has a video where he swaps a vtech can into a non VTech motor so go ahead and laugh dumbasses while me and mine go faster then you

(I am) Pretty sure non (none) of you are real Honda guys cause (because) if you where (were), you would know how vtech (VTEC) works and that yes it has a larger more aggressive grind (only on the VTEC lobe... the primary and secondary lobes are smaller than a non-VTEC cam) to them. (T)the reason being is that the rockers work on a hydraulic solenoid (a solenoid is an electrical device - and in a VTEC engine, it opens a pathway inside the cylinder head to use oil volume under pressure to mechanically lock rocker arms together to switch to the more aggressive cam lobe profile) and at higher rpm it kicks in giving you more power. (I)if you take the Cam and the rockers off of the vtech (VTEC) head you can get these retainers that lock all three lobes together both on intake and exhaust (nope) you would get a little more lope at idle and more power in the upper hand (hand ???)(this doesn't work in any case that I am aware of, and even if you could move over the cam and rocker arms, you would have to make it a "vtec killer", which I believe is what you are describing when you say "retainers" even though what would actually happen is you would swap or replace the rocker arm dowels to keep all three lobes mechanically locked at all times. This would idle poorly and lose power in the low and mid-range... and make the same power as a VTEC engine of the same type at peak... not better.) I hope I didn't school you kindergartens (kindergarteners) to (too) much (I am confident not a SINGLE individual here is feeling "schooled" by you at this juncture.). (S)seeing how most of the post where laughing (WHAT !?!?) not understanding just how much power you can gain with it (I have already covered this... you can gain no more than the VTEC headed engine that is similar to the non-VTEC one) look that **** up on YouTube(.) (T)the Texas Honda guys channel has a video where he swaps a vtech (VTEC) can (cam) into a non VTech (VTEC) motor(,) so go ahead and laugh dumbasses while me and mine go faster then you (I am confident that "you and yours" are not faster than many of the veterans here are because they truly understand these engines and how to make power instead of buying into the "hype" that you are pedaling.)
