Default non vtec to vtec? single cam

Hey guys my friend was wondering if you take a 1.5 non vtec block and put a 1.6 single cam vtec head on it would it just woprk or would you have to do the same as ls vtec? i told him not to even waste his time and get a dohc vtec motor but he just wants to go faster than what he has.

You need the VTEC head, a P28 or other compatible VTEC ECU, and you need to run a couple wires for the VTEC oil pressure sensor and the VTEC solenoid (sp?).
