Using tranny after sitting for extensive time...
Are there any complications or precautions with using a tranny that has been sitting for a long time?
I bought a 2000 EX transmission from a guy who had it sitting for around 2 years. Installed it, filled it up with Honda MTF, drove it very gingerly for the first couple days to make sure everything sounded good. Only issue is a very slight grind on the 2-3 shift at 5,500 RPM+. It's almost not quite a grind, almost just a little kick with a slight noise, but what feels like the onset to a worsening grind.
I had another EX tranny several years back and it had the same issue for the first day or so, then it went away. Never came back.
Do I need to change the fluid at all after a certain interval since it sat for so long? I'd rather not run down the GM synchromesh route yet as that's merely a mask.
Thanks.

I dont think you should be to worried about how long it sat. was it clean? no cob webs or anything growing inside? personally, i would change the tranny fluid at about 250 miles, just for precaution, then maybe again at around 1000 miles. "I'm a worrier, thats why they call me whiskers."

I had one that I bought that sat in my garage for over a year before I threw it on. I flushed it once and have been driving it ever since.

Good, sounds like it's not a big deal. Now if I could just figure out the 2-3 grind.
