Default Supercharging D16y8

Guy tells of problems he had with Jackson Racing a year after he wrote an article about how sweet his blower was...........

Anyone else have problems with their JRSC

I read that a while ago and it had a lot to do with my dismissing the JRSC as being a worthwhile investment. There was a JRSC on Ebay for a G that came and went w/out a bid recently. I've heard a few other horror stories, but they were second hand, so I can't vouch for their validity. I'd rather take my chances w/ a JY turbo.

i never had any, the thing was sweet, made 167@wheels, with 125ft.lbs of torque. it was in a crx and i surprised a **** load of people, the only thing was that the belt would slip off the pulley at really high rpms, it would be holding on to 2 ribs instead of 4. and i had a shop fabricate a new belt tensioner out of steel instead of the aluminum one which snapped(the thing that holds the 2 plastic wheels that hold the belts tension). other then that, it was 2.5 years of fun!

[QUOTE=bubbajim]the belt would slip off the pulley at really high rpms,QUOTE]

Very common from what I understand.... I hear rumor that they are constantly needing rebuilds too...

There alright if you want some reliability, but if you want power go turbo!

I have no input on the reliability of them, but a while back i knew of a crx around here that had a jrsc on his sohc vtec motor and it rode out like nobodys business. He got on me pretty bad one time on the highway so i figured he had a little more, but a few months later i saw it in the autotrader listed as Jackson supercharged ex swap. I was sure suprised with it.

Yeah I read that article too, but there's a few questionable things in there that made me question it. Like at one part, if I remember right (it's been awhile since I've read it), that they didn't tune it right in the first place, hence why he felt he didn't have as much power at first as he thought he should.

yea i got a d16y8 and i had my heart set out for the infamous j.r.s.c untill i saw that article and i was very dissapointed. it sounded like it was gonan create more problems than do any good out of it. and how good would the s.c be if the belts keep loosening up. not to mention it didnt sound to good for the motor cuz of retarding timing and no type of fuel managment.
i know i wouldnt spend my money on that setup. thats y im saving up for a turbo kit.
thats my opinion

I was thinking the SC too for my D16Y8, but I'm leaning towards turbo now. There haven't been too many success stories for JRSC.
