Still no working Vtec in my Civic

Still no working Vtec in my Civic
So here's the rundown,
I have a code 22 flashing from my check engine light,
I've cleaned the vtec assembly with gas and replaced the gasket,
I've changed the oil and filter,
I've d.c.'d the battery for five minutes and reconnected it,
Then I punched the steering wheel repeatedly after watching that damn check engine light come back on.
Any more suggestions? At this point does it have to be that I need a new Vtec Assembly?
