Re: step by step powersteering removal?
Well, your pump and reservoir are plan as day to remove, but the power steering line going down to your steering rack. Just follow it down and you'll see the bolt, but you will be lucky to get it off without breaking the bolt or the line itself. Why dont you buy a new belt and run the powersteering? Even if you take all of this off your car will still be somewhat hard to turn unless you remove your powersteering rack and replace it. I would just keep it...............my opinion

bump for you 'cause i'd like a good step by step as well...i have no belt either (took it off) but still have the lines and reservoir and would like to get rid of all that crap so my engine bay looks cleaner.

i cant throw a belt on cuz my b16a2 didint come with a ps pump, so i bolted my d-sieres pump on, the lines hooked up, but the pulley and the crank pulley are off by just enough to not make a belt possible
and i actualyl dont mind it without powersteering but id like to remove the useless weight!

Most of the threads are old and i see people mentioning how they have heard of running the rack dry.
i was involved in a small "bending of the fenders" if you will and my rad support was pushed back onto my power steering line that runs into the resevoir and sliced it. Fluid was everywhere and i didn't feel like draining to replace the hose and yadda yadda for something i wasn't even that happy to have in the first place.
On my 93 si
I removed the belt, the pump, the bracket the resevoir and ALL lines running to and from the rack itself. I left it open for a short test drive where all the fluid was left on the road and my subframe from turning the wheel. I came home got a small piece of hose and used two of the clamps off the old lines from the power steering and looped them right off the rack. mostly so crap couldn't get into the hose that was cut shortly before the rack
That was it theres no fluid in it and it has been like this for roughly 3 months totally problem free. I will be getting a cx non-power rack to swap onto the car. That won't happen untill i pull the stock motor out to make ease of the job.
Anyway good luck.

Sorry I can't help with the info you're looking for but I just want to say that people are always saying how hard it will be to steer after removing the power steering when in fact that is not the case. The ONLY time you will notice is when the car is completely still. While moving I prefer no power steering, it feels much better. Like I mentioned before only when standing still will the car be difficult to steer but all it takes to solve that is to get the car rolling just by slightly letting off the clutch [it really doesn't take much movement at all] The Camber of your front wheels really affects how difficult it will be to turn, the less camber the easier to turn is what I've noticed on my car.

i concur. powersteering felt to sloppy to me or something now that its gone I feel a lot more of the road and generally more in control.
