Speedometer help - intermittently won't work
Hello all, first post
To start, yes I did search but it seems alot of people have similar, but not the same issue as I have so far.
I picked up a 96 Civic DX 5 speed with 234k km on the odometer (as a beater). The car's speedometer seems to work only 5-10 minutes after I start the car. It will work if i shut the car down, and restart within a certain amount of time, but if I leave the car parked for about an hour or more, then it will not work for about 5-10 minutes again after I restart the car. And just magically come back to life, and continue to work until I sit the car again.
It doesn't jump irratically which is what most people see when they suffer a VSS problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Speedometer help - intermittently won't work
yea dry joints is a good thing to look for. just carefully touch all the solder joints with a quality iron and also try cleaning the VSS connector with some electgronics cleaning spray and lube it with some electronics lube those connectors foul up easy and cause a host of strange behavior. I had to replace my connector with one from a junkyard to get my weird random speed sensor problems to quit
