Default So I finally saved up enough money for an engine...now what?

It's been 4 months...And with not buying anything but bread and water to eat and picking up every penny that comes to sight I saved up 6 g's...I've been wanting to go hybrid for quite some time now but I dunno what to get? All I know is, that I will not be going all motor.

I've been thinking of getting a b18c5 but my friend tells me because of the high compression it will blow? Is this true? Is turbo a no-no for this engine? If not, what will I need??????

Can you guys help me??? PLEASE!!! :\

not true, if you bulit the motor rite, it can take boost..
if all you have is 6gs.. I suggest you go with a b18b and boost it.. should take about 10-11psi with stock internal, and save the rest of the money, in case anything break, or you can use some high lift cams with them..
you then should be a happy man............

Don't waste your money on a b18c5 if you're gonna boost.

yes this is entirely possible.....I know several type R owners running that exact set up on stock motors.

If you want to go turbo there is no reason to get the B18c5. you are spending more money on stuff that you are going to change if you want to run a lot of boost. but if you really want to and do it right I would do the following: Rods, pistons(low compression), valves, valves springs, stock crank should be ok, block guard, boost controller, turbo timer, upgrade injectors, fuel rail, intake manifold, someone help me out. I'm not up on all my turbo stuff

i don't mean to sound like a *****, but what's the use in spending like 4K more on a C5 if you're just gonna boost? get a b18b with a GSR tranny, build it, and then turbo it....you can throw alot more at it than you could a c5. if you really wanna turbo a C5 good, you'll have to drop the c/r anyway...which would make it useless to start out with a c5 to begin with. that's just my thoughts..do what you want. if you really wanna go c5 + turbo, like drag said, it is possible!

dont waste money on b18c5 if your going turbo. it's just a waste. if you only have 6000 and you want the b18c5 AND turbo, it's not going to happen. That's why you should go for the LS engine and do it right. You will be much happier in the long run.

its possible ! but for the amount of money that you will spend on a b18c5 , you are rather of going b18c1 , is the best set up for turbo.
the gears are longer, (not longer then the b18b) and the CR is not that high .
if you really plan on running a turbo then your best option is running a GSR motor
b18c1 and with the money that you save , you would be able to buy both at the sametime ,gsr motors go for 3000-3400 and with that it gives you a good amount the get your self a turbo kit!

I'd say you should go with a b18b or a b20b, and turbo it. You will get a lot more torque then a b18c5. If you have a c5 the compression ratio is way to high. You will blow your motor if you want to up the boost. The c5 was built for all motor. If you want FI then get a b18b/b20b, resleeve it, low compression pistons, lightweight rods, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel rail, msd ignition, some nice cams, titanium retainers, valve springs, turbo timer, and boost controller. You will be able to turbo the hell out of it. Run like 20 psi of boost. That would be bad A$$!

also remember do you want Vtec or not
from there you could decide to go b18b , b20 or b18c1
