Default running obd2 engine in obd1 car

just curious if there was anything wrong with doing this? i been doing it for a while now. i took the motor out of a 96 gsr and put it in a 95 dx coupe. when i first got it in the car had a miss up top really bad when easing the throttle down but nailing it it wasn't so bad. if i just eased the gas to the floor slowly, when it hit v-tec it started backfiring and wouldn't accelerate. i don't think it does this anymore, i haven't really eased the gas and redlined it lately. could this be from running the motor as obd2 in a obd1 car? the plugs and everything plugged in.

yea it's a complete obd2 engine in a obd1 car. everything plugged up. i had a extra plug that was prob. for iab's crank sensor or the sensor on top of the throttle body. it's a basically a complete gsr out of a 96 gsr. it plugged rite into the obd1 civic harness. i'm running a obd1 chipped p28. it's a stock type r chrome basemap, but it needs changed for my setup.

Thats the right way to do it. Whatever the issue is its not the wiring.

check the map sensor plug thats hanging on the fire wall. that plugs up to the map sensor. the one thats on the wire harness is the wrong one. just replace the 2 and u should be good to go. i got a gsr in my dx hatch too and the was the problem. oh yea u better off getting an obd1 p72. trust me it will be a lot better if u have all the sensor on the gsr. make sure the canister is hooked up too.

i don't have any check engine lights and figured a map would throw it, i don't recall seeing a map sensor plug hanging on the firewall either?

if this is true, my map sensor has been unplugged since i put the motor in over a year ago. i'll make sure to check this when i put the motor back in.

Only '92 - '93 DX/LX Civics have a firewall mounted MAP sensor with that weird seperate harness. The OP has a '95.
