quick question OBD1 and OBD2
i dont really understand the difference between OBD1 and OBD2, i was told its just one wire, so is it possible to buy an OBD2 motor and hook up an OBD1 harness and vise versa and ECU? i guess what im trying to ask is how do i know what harness/motor/ecu years i need and what can i swap?
well first you should tell us what kind of car YOU have, then we can go from there, as far as obd1 and 2, obd1 only uses 1 o2 sensor, and obd2 uses 2, a primary and secondary. also, no obd1 engine has a knock sensor, any VTEC engine made after 96 has one. any vehicle made after 1996 is obd2. you can put a obd2 motor in an obd1 engine 2 ways, you can change the dizzy, injectors, and alternator to obd1 or you can just get the plug for each and re-wire them to the obd1 harness, know what i mean? and vice versa for a obd1 motor in a obd2 car. and for obd2 you can get a conversion harness to use a obd1 ecu for the engine

Um...OBD1 P72, OBD1 P30, OBD1 P13....all utilized and had inputs for a knock sensor.
