Default Rpm needle going wack on boost ? S.O.S.

RPM needle jumping around on boost
mkk guys i need some help...

on boost rpm needle dances around in sync with the boost, when rpm needle jumps, the boost laggs.

75% of the time it jumps 25% it doesnt.

n/a mode rpm needle works perfect.

When i record a run on hondata, it shows the needle working perfect and boost constant when the actual needle jumps as well as the boost.

What do you guys think ?
Im thinking, that the only thing boost and the rpm needle have in common are something electrical in the distributor, so maybee have "something" wich i dont know wrong with my distributor...
if you guys think the same, would you know what i could test, or replace in my distributor ? Or have any other idea's

Thanx a bunch guys

you have either a bad speed sensor or the pins in the speed sensor clip or wore out....needle jumps around and you can feel my car lag when this happens...i'm not turboed though.

GRant

check your ignition system (distributor, spark plugs, spark wires, etc), mines did the same thing when i was on the highway, it would jump from 4000 rpm to 5000 every other second, turns out my distributor was coming loose and i screwed it back in, never happened again.

What do you guys think about the ignitor inside the distributor ? do you think that could be my problem ? Also , would you guys know how to test my old ignitor to make sure that thats the correct part i need to replace ?

Thanx

I had the EXACT PROBLEM!

Sometimes its ok...but sometimes its not. It seems to be boost related, but it isn't.

All the problem was with my car was a loose ground. Check the one at the thermostat. It comes off the wire harness, and connects to the thermostat housing. Mine was loose, and once I tightned the connection, my car ran perfect! Check the other engine grounds too.

I had that **** for like 3 weeks before I got rid of my turbo.(dumb, I know)

I replaced the ICM in the distributor(160 bucks), and that didn't fix the problem.

Couple days later it was working great, I could boost with no problems...it was raining and I hit full boost in 2nd. Bad wheelspin, and in most hondas it seems if you get spin in the rain, you soon start to hop bad. Thats what happened...and then I started having the problem again. Leading me to believe it was a loose connection somewhere.

Too bad I didn't get it fixed till after the turbo was gone.

why did i get a new wire and connectors for the main ground ?

because it they were bad...

Im starting now to think that it is a leak in the piping seeing as theres alot of it, im going to check that as soon as i have time...

heres a pic of my new enclosure for 3 10's behind my seat in my del sol = )

make sure you wash it off when finished

I've had similar problems, too, and it was the ground, just like the guy before said. Once, I had a problem with bad connections at the relay (because of how I had my hot wire for my amp wired), but this wasn't in the Honda. Good luck with your problem!
