Default How does boost affect top speed?

What does boost pressure do at high speeds? Or is top speed only affected by gear ratios and drag limitations? At first, I would think that the extra power a turbo offers would give higher tops speeds... -just trying to learn more.

u can only max out at what ure gears will let u do on my ls i believe its like 140 something or it hits the limiter but if u raise the limiter u will go as fast as ure internals will let it

I was able to get to 125 (still had about 1000 RPM left till redline)

In about 11 seconds....It was fast!

Boost doesn't affect top speed. Gearing affects top speed. Boost just lets you hit top speed faster

well actually it does....

Boost (In other words "power")....will allow you to over come more of the resistances in Air/tire/berrings of the car at high speeds...thus being able to get to higher top speeds.

I would like to see a stock CRX HF get to 120!!!!!

You are correct though of course, as gearing will play the BIGGEST role in the top speed of the car.

In other words.. you may have long enough gears to hit 250mph, but you'll
never hit 250mph if you don't have enough horsepower to overcome all the
forces against the car.

With the amount of HP we get added with our turbos, we can easily top out the gears in our cars.

And that's where top end, high speeds, and poor tuning kill motors right?

Hey there I gotta JRSC 97 civic ex 1.6L vtec the fastest I've had it up to is about 135mph so far I always seem to get some a-hole in front of me drivin slow or maybe I'm drivin too fast either way u get my point That was before I put the SC on and I havent got a chance yet to try and get above that since I've put it on, anyways I believe the speed limiter in my vehicle is 134mp so maybe I wasnt goin 135 who knows since I've put the SC on i've noticed I run alot warmer especially when Im rompin on it but thats expected I guess, more air, more gas, equals more heat!!!!!!!! RACE ON!!!!!!
