replacing y7 exhaust manifold with header?
i have a 98 civic with a crack in the manifold right by where the 02 sensor goes in its not affecting anything now but im sure in the future it will. and i have a p0420 so either the cat is already bad or the downstreem o2 is on the fritz.
i looked up the price of replacements and then i looked of the price of headers.
the replacements where like 250+ and the headers where 143 for megan stainless 4-2-1 headers, 158 for stainless megans 4-1 headers and 360 for dc 4-2-1 those where the headers it seams everyone online is puting on there civic so im amusing there good.
i would prefer to get the megans based on price but wanted to know if any headers especially those mentioned are direct bolt on to a stock exhaust.

ya theres a waranty but i think its 8 years 80k or 8 years 100k its not 150 but i could always call and check.
still interested in weather those headers are strait bolt ins for factory exhaust though.

Anything but a Bisimoto header. Have seen multiple headers from him with unfinished welds, not just cracked, flipping unfinished!

for it to work and be proper, you need the header, an EX catalytic converter, an EX mid pipe. and the muffler for whatever chassis your car is. coupe/sedan/hatch.

Re: replacing y7 exhaust manifold with header?
what about not proper (ie no florida emissions) will the new header bolt strait to whatever is bolted post cat on the stock system or is the header to short/to long to fit right.
will to reach the part with the resonator on it in the picture and skip the cat and mid pipe.

i looked into that a wile back some of the pictures made it look like it fit but are questionable if they where y7 motors but i did see one video on youtube where hes header was about 6in from that pipe but he had a full cat back so hes might have been different.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Performance-...9e9e39&vxp=mtr
I just put these ebay headers on my 93 del sol D16Z6.
I had a cracked exhaust manifold and this was the simplest way to go.
$60 free shipping included the collector pipe to the CAT, gaskets and bolts.
It bolted right in. I used vise grips to compress the spring loaded bolts that connect the exhaust pipe to the collector pipe.
So far I'm happy.

Re: replacing y7 exhaust manifold with header?
i had the exact same problem last month when i bought my 98 civic sedan! It came with an aftermarket header, cat and skunk 2 exhaust. i had to replace the cat and exhaust. I used a 99-00 SI cat + exhaust, i kept the aftermarket header (believed it's megan racing as well or off-brand).

Re: replacing y7 exhaust manifold with header?
-EX catalytic converter
-EX header (a.k.a. exhaust manifold)
-O2 sensor extension wire harness
-EX aftermarket or stock catback exhaust
You need a little more than just the header and cat.

2. Stock exhaust you have now will not fit. Otherwise, it wouldn't be on the parts needed list. The new manifold and cat set-up will be too long. You will be forced to remove the B-pipe from the exhaust and ride around open cat.
No. The header's 2" flange will go into the cat converter no problem. Just get the appropriate sized donut gasket. The shop who is making an exhaust system for you will be able to take car of the rest. Or you can just buy an exhaust kit for a 92-00 (96-00 EX/SI) and do it all yourself. All coupes and sedans have the same exhaust piping from 92-00 except for the vehicles with a stock y7.
