So i searched the forums for a tutorial on removing axels, i found one, but im having trouble, where the castle nut goes.. after i take that off and the through bolt for the strut fork, i cant seem to detach the lower contrl arm from where the castle nut went on, the tutorial says.. hammer it... i did this and no go. i cant get anything in to pry it it seems and i have the hub assembly held up thinking that if i can hammer downward on the control arm it will pop.. im no mechanic and i havent done this before. im new to most of this. Any ideas ? muchly appreciated

I am having a hard time understanding what you are trying to do exactly. I rented a tool to pop the upper ball joint, removed the strut fork and was able to pull the axles out. It takes a little bit of manevering but is rather easy once you do the first one. If you can post pics to give us a better understanding, that would be great!

bigger hammer. its pretty much the only way. theres that little flat spot on the LCA. you can try jacking the arm up and put a wrench in between the balljoint and lower arm then lower the jacked arm and it might pop out.

i spent a good couple days getting mine off with a 4 lb BGH. just be careful not to fudge the threads up taking the whole knuckle off to go and get them pressed out and new ones put in is pretty freakin annoying.

bigger hammer and turn the wheel so the lca is fully expossed so that you can hit directly at the end of it, also try using a crowbar and jam it in between the spindel and lca and push downwards

If you can't separate the lca's then remove the upper control arm. One of my lca's wouldn't knock lose with a 5 lb sledge and pickle fork so I took out the upper control arm and got enough room to slide out my axle. Hope that helps.

Just use a balljoint puller! They are not expensive!

Or instead of pounding the top of the lca, pound from the side and wiggle the hub assembly. Always works for me. But if that won't work, do what Jeff360 stated. GL

Turn the wheels hard right or left. Use a medium sized hammer. The faster you can swing it the better. Not too heavy or too light of a hammer. Keep the nuts incase you miss the lca. Hammer lca from the sides.Might take a dozen or so strikes if its really tight.

You DID remember to disconnect the lower ball joint and tie rod, didn't you?
You have to give the spindle room to move away from the axle.....

yea this didnt require touching the tie-rod end tho just detaching the lca from the lower ball joint and the strut fork., thanks everyone that video posted helped me alot the motor is now out !
