Re-Torque Headstuds
engine: b18c1
headstuds ARP
I am noticing small leaking of coolant coming from the corner of the block near the vtec solenoid. Also I am blowing some blue smoke.
The engine has been rebuilt and broken in.
My question is is there a certain mileage were you must retorque your headstuds.
Also correct me if Im wrong 60-70 ft. lbs.
Also in what order i read from middle to outer but that was only for taking the head off.
I just need some clarifacation

Re: Re-Torque Headstuds
Im going to check out a torque wrench from work bring it home and see if there is a noticable difference in the studs hopefully they wont need it for an F/A-18 engine or airframing
I am still wondering if headstuds need to be re torqued as well as the other questions

Re: Re-Torque Headstuds
i have always heard that you do retorque arp headstuds. at least i did mine. i retorqued mine after 7-8 heat cycles. oh and its a step torque too, meaning at first you do like 60, then after 7-8 heat cycles you do whatever the torque specs say for arp, i think 71?
i just threw those numbers out there, just so you get the idea that you work your way up to the recommended specs.
