rattling short shifter, could new bushings help???
i installed a b&m hurst short shifter in my civic almost 6 months ago, and it started rattling about 5months ago. its not too bad when im cruising over 3grand but not over 5 bcuz its stars rattling again. but last month when i put on some new exhaust piping underneath, i got a chance to see what might be causing this rattle..all bolts were tight i just played with it a lil, moved the shift linkage pushed upwards on the shifter..that seemed to remedy the problem for a week or two, then it just came back i was doing some research and found aftermarket bushings that tighten up the feel..idk heres the link http://www.streetrays.com/store/inde...oduct_id=32341 i've heard of others with this problem but i did not hear a solustion, any help? it would be greatly appriciated, thanks for looking

have the same problem. if you go under your car and shake the shift linkage you'll see the little bastard bolts that are clinking around. it's because there's no rubber bushings/washers to soften the gap where the long bolt slides through to connect to your shifter. I took my bolt out and tried to put on rubber washers. couldn't get them to stay on while sliding the bolt on, plus there's such a small gap the whole process is Very hard to do. Maybe if you can get some super glue or find rubber washers that have adhesive on them so you can stick them on and then slide the bolt through....
after that didn't work I took a bunch of electrical tape and wrapped it all around my shifter (also to keep the shift boot from sliding down -keep it up close to the shift ****-)
and it deadened the sound a lot. still rattles a little bit.
I'll be doing a b swap this year or next so I'm just leaving it til I do that.
hope this helps.

The B&M shifters will rattle, that is just what they do. Mine rattles as well, but it does not bother me. I feel the B&M is the best shifter for our cars and I love mine. Either replace it with a Skunk2 or turn up your radio haha. Good luck!

Mine rattles against the boot sometimes . I have all new energy suspension bushings in. I took some electrical tape and it helped a little bit . I slid the boot down tapped it up a lil then side the boot back over it .
