Shifter Problem
I have spotted a recent problem and finnally got annoyed wit a old problem, I have a B&M Short Shifter installed with a Type R Replica shift ****, everytime i let go of the gas i hear a LOUD ratteling noise, not only that i see alot of motion with the accelerating and deaccelerating, by this i mean for example lets say Im in 3rd gear i see the shifter moving back and fourth.
i think every car i've owned has done that. but.....check your shifter bushings, and hardware to make sure that it is tight. maybe the little bushing on the pivot of the shifter, is shot.
just changed the shifter bushing to polyurathane, thinking that it would stop the rattle, but question is what bushing should i look for that actually goes on the linkage that connects to the short shifter, the ones i got was the other linkage which doesnt connect to the short shifter linkage.

Front to back:
This is normally the cause of shot motor mounts.

I dont think it's anything to be too worried about unless it's excessive, and it's hard to tell what excessive is... but as awd terror said it's usually just your motor shifting around in the engine bay. My brothers truck and my jeep both have long sticks and you can really see those things move around when theres a change in acceleration

Make sure of the shifter + exhaust problem.

really doubt its hitting the exhaust, theres about a finger and half gap between the exhaust and shifter, sounds like its the little ball that connects to the shift linkage is rattling.
On my DA I've noticed that the shift linkage is pretty loose up by point 22 (the U joint)
I'm contemplating drilling the horizontal pin out & putting a bolt through with a few washers to keep it moiving.
I'd also look at giving point 28 a bit of a nip up.
can you get a buddy to sit in the drivers seat & give the throttle a bit of a stab while you're under the car to see what's actually moving down there?
