Quickie: D16Y8 Camshaft in D16Z6 Head?
Quick question. I know the D16Y8 and D16Z6 camshafts have different specs but can the two cam shafts be interchanged without problems? The thing is my built motor is a Z6 (going into 2000 civic) but the stock camshaft is broken and I just need to get my car running asap. i have the d16y8 motor still and i'm wondering if it is possible to use the Y8 camshaft in the Z6 head without problems, etc

Yes but the timing will be off. Do you still have the Y8 motor? I'm interested in buying from you. Just the block and head and it's ok that the cam isn't in it...let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hrm... don't wanna bother doing it then. **** gotta find one asap!
anyway... i'm doubt i'm going to sell the motor. firstly because i think the rod bearings are going bye bye (the reason i'm not driving it now), and secondly i'm considering rebuilding it and keeping it as a spare. if i decide to sell ill let u know

No, it will be fine, but you must retard the cam 5 degrees and then reset the timing. I ran a Z6 cam in my Y8 for over a year (the Zex stage 1 cam...). The profiles of the cams are identical, the only change is the degree of the key for the distributor and gear, and it is about 5 degrees.

Yes,100% sure, just watch out if your using an odd ball aftermarket cam gear(I explain why on my spec page) and you might have to trim the Z6 plastic cover under cam gear,I had to do this with my AEM gear cause the adjustment bolts just touched it but you shouldnt have this problem if you use either the stock Y8 gear or cover.
