Putting a D16Z6 head on a D16Y8 block...what do I need to know?
Can I still use my Y8 ARP headstuds? What headgasket do I use? Will I be able to run the standard P28 timing maps when tuning with Crome?
What else do I need to know about doing this conversion? I am currently running the stock D16Y8 in my car right now, and it's OBD-II obviously. I will be converting to OBD-I and running crome for my turbo setup, I just asked here because Hybrid guys tend to do more head/block hybrid setups.

Because of the pain-in-the-*** P2P ignition timing issues that come up when tuning turbo Y8's. I might just stick with it though, it's already on there right?

I'm considering swapping heads because ive been fighting with P2P timing in OBD1 ecu's for a few years and sick of it. I'm not concerned about bolting it on, what I'm more interested in is plugs and electronics. What sensors are different? What sensors are missing? When I have to get my emissions tested and I uninstall the turbo and swap back to OBD2 will I have to swap heads as well?

Re: (whos miketran)
you can either use the y8 or z6 head gasket, there the same 3 layer metal.. its just different part numbers and the y8 is 30 bucks from the dealer.
