Default quick transmission question(s)

ok, so in october i went to get my car inspected at Midas and after they finished they told me i should really bring my car in to get the trans serviced because its reaching the 100,000 mile mark and that the trans pretty much turns to **** after 100,000 miles. he also told me that there were 2 things that needed to be done, 1 obviously change the trans fluid and 2nd was that a filter and gasket would need to be changed. all this costing close to 400 bucks. now i drive a 2000 honda civic ex, 5spd, and im pretty sure that my trans is not endanger of "turning to ****" just because its turning 100,000 miles. but then again im no mechanic im just running off of the hondas run forever credo.

now i just want to know, for a manual transmission car...what needs to be done to service the trans, cause i thought it would just be replacing the trans fluid and not costing me 400 bucks.
and i want to know if that guy was just being an ******* trying to squeeze money out of me

thanks

$400 bucks..for a tranny fluid change....DAYEM!!!! BTW...manual tranny's do not have filters and gaskets like AUTO trannys. I'm sure your tranny is still working properly without any grinds or noises. He's just trying to rob you BLIND. I have never heard of a HONDA recall about tranny's going bad after 100k miles. HE'S JUST AN IDIOT that has probably never owned a Honda.

You can do a trans. flush yourself. all you need is basic tools. Remember, the 100,000 mile mark is a big PM list. He is going to try and get as much work out of you as he can. He gets paid by the job. How do I know? I am a UTI grad. (auto/advanced Ford) went to school for 2 years and have over 40 cridentials through Ford. I have about 3 years of experience. But im not saying I know everything just that ive worked with alot of techs and thats just what they do. Especially around winter time. But back to your trans. Jack up your car and put on jackstands <=Important!!! If you look there should be 3 drain plugs on the trans. They will be vertically aligned. The bottom one is the drain plug. The middle one is the level check plug.To checkyou remove plug slowly and fluid should dribble out). And the top one is the fill plug. If you cant get a funnel in there to fill it attach a hose small enough to fit into trans. to the funnel.and fill according to your owners manuel. It will say how much fluid the trans will hold. Always check after you fill it. Its wierd i came acrossed this post because im also flushing my 00 civic ex tommorrow. I would look into a timing belt replacement too. PM=90,000 miles. Not trying to sell you or anything. ha ha! no but seriously i will be changing mine at 90,000 but thats 40,000 miles from now.

expletive Fords=drive hondas!

YES good idea since its already apart. dont want the pump to go out later and then change the belt again, now do you?
