moly additive in trans
would the moly additive cause any kind of harm to a trans or would it cause the fluid to break down faster or at all??
searched a bit but i couldnt find an answer
EDIT: sorry for being very vague...im not exactly sure what fluid is in my trans at the moment..and yea i know i should be aware of it, my mechanic that put my trans in said this morning that he used something with moly in it (couldnt really understand what he said cause of his german accent) - but to give a little info about my situation, ONLY when i accelerate the trans makes a bit of noise..kind of like a whirring noise in resemblance to an ISB going bad..and i was wondering if the moly additive could be causing this, he said he used a "Better" trans fluid, im assuming maybe something that might be used in some kind of autox or race trans fluid...really hoping that my ISB isn't bad.
so yea, just kind of hoping at the moment that if i put MTF in the trans if it would help the problem.

Your mechanic needs to tell you what he put in there. If you can't understand him then go to the shop and ask him to show you a bottle. If he can't do that, you need to find another mechanic, or maybe learn to do it yourself.
What's an ISB?

Flawless. I wish I could say the same for me. My ISB's
took a **** so I ripped open the trans and swapped out all the bearings at about 200K.
And to the OP, I notice a very very slight whirring inside my trans, but its the same sound it made when it was brand new. The possibility exists that if the bearings weren't preloaded/shimmed correctly, it could also result in a noise. Or the type of fluid your mechanic put in is the wrong grade(too thick or thin) that could also creat a higher noise condition. I'm the type of guy that if the owners manual says Honda MTF, that's all the trans is ever gonna see. No shift additives, no nothing. You could even consider the moly additive might cause a slight shifting issue because if I remember correctly how synchros operate, they work with a certain amount of friction to engage, and if you remove some or all of that friction, they might not work "right".
