quick question about gsr into civic hatch
yea my dad is being a dick about me getting a obdII car because he has the scanner for the OBDII engines. can i get a odbI civic and have a gsr engine 96^ would he be able to scan the codes if my CEL goes off?

should be fine, i think, as long as you take the complete wiring harness out of the gsr. Not positive, though. I've just seen so many B-series swapped eg's, so i assume it's doable. However, the tuning potential of OBDI should not be overlooked (.e. Hondata), just to check for any cel's, in my opinion

You dont need a scanner in a obd1 car, unless im missing something. I have a obd1 civic with a 98 ls engine. All i did was use a Obd1 ecu, stock civic wire harness in the dash, and the integra harness in hte engine bay. Its all clicks together.
If your engine light goes off, you jump a little service connector below the glove box to make your CEL light blink, count the blinks and you know what the problem is.
And from what I understand Obd2 ftl if your going to modify it.
