Question for you guys running a stock intake tube w/ a cone filter
Today I decided that I was going to use my stock intake tube with a cone filter on the end instead of the short ram that I have had for years.
I never noticed until now that all 3 of my cone filters are the same exact size as the end of the stock intake tube. When I try to put a cone filter on the end of the stock tube they just meet up instead of one slipping over top of the other.
How do you guys get a K&N on the end of the stock intake tube?
Do you have to modify the tube, or do you just use black tape or something?
I feel stupid asking this, but I just noticed today

Re: Question for you guys running a stock intake tube w/ a cone filter (slowdx9585)
When I had a setup like that, what I did was take a piece of intake pipe (about 4 inches long) slide 2 inches into the tube and the other 2 inches into the cone, 2 clamps and there you go...

I honestly never knew that there was different sized ends on the cone filters.
Every one of them I've ever owned has just slipped right over top of the 3" short ram tube.
I also don't see why I would want the end of the filter to slip INSIDE of the tube rather than over top of it....

I like this way so far.
I honestly don't think they make different sizes of the inlet of cone filters.
Every one I've ever seen has been the same size

They definately make different sizes...... the J's is like a 4.5 opening... no way a plain AEM short ram filter will fit on my J's intake.

Did something like that but didn't like where the filter sat so I used a little bit more than 4 inches and mounted my filter like this...

Yeah, my filter sits right next to the distributer now.
I used only enough pipe to make the tube and filter be flush with each other.
