Re: Question about turbo (SI_DRIVR)
I would do the engine swap then turbo if your still wanting turbo. Always better to turbo the V-tec engines

Re: Question about turbo (silverEH2)
first off, since your auto, dohc vtec wont be your option since they all come in manual, besides h22 (quote me if i am wrong). unless you do manual conversion but then your looking into some more money.
if your engine is in good compression then i would look into a supercharger instead of a turbo.
1st you will suffer some lag since you are auto, with a supercharger, you will get continuous power throughout your rpm band.
2nd less wear on your engine.
3rd i see them on ebay for about 1000 dollers now a days used. so its a whole lot cheaper then a swap, including a manual conversion.
hope that helps you out.

Z6 is VTEC numb nuts. Don't under estimate the power of the SOHC

How is a super less wear than a turbo?
thats what i have heard about superchargers. i could be wrong. but just from want i know, i am turbo person but i read a lot of good things about chargers, beside the lack of power compared to a turbo.

Re: Question about turbo (silverEH2)
Actually a turbo on an automatic car does have a slight advantage. First of all you could build boost at a stop with just brake torque. Basically hold the brake down, and give it some gas, your turbo will be at positive pressure even before you take off. On a supercharged application, yes you will have power throughout the powerband, but on takeoffs, your auto tranny will still rob your power buildup till you get going. There is a company in one of the Honda Tuning issues that specializes in revaning torque converters, so you accelerate faster, get better gas milage and can build up your engine more, i forgot the name of the company tho...their work even rivals a manual tranny in some aspects, plus imagine what a sleeper you would be when they see the auto shifter...
