you can use your b7 dizzy with a b7/y8 mini-me. If you were using a z6 head, you'd need a new dizzy, or you'd need to modify yours. The bolt patterns for the d16z6, d16z1, and d15b dizzy's are the same. Every other dizzy from 92-00 is interchangable - just not these 3. You'll need a (new) y8 timing belt for your setup.

I'm pretty sure, but don't quote me. Even if the mounting brackets don't match up, you can still use the distributor with some modification. I have a b7 dizzy on my b7/z6 mini-me, and it works fine. I just had to spend about 2 hours hacking up the frame...

Why not just pull the old one off the old head when you take it off. If it doesn't line up jump in a friends car and go get a different one. If it does then put it on and keep going.

thats a good point but if i were to buy a new one that would cost me money, which i dont have right now. so i wanna make sure my old one works before i go ahead with the mini me swap.

I know how you feel, I was in almost the same position, except I knew mine wouldn't line up. If this is your daily driver, I'd say get another distributor for insurance, and if you don't need it, sell it. You might loose some money, but at least the car works. If you have another car, try yours and if it doens't work, you can either try to modify it or buy another one. I'll gladly show you pictures of my dizzy if you go my route. Sorry I couldn't be of more help - good luck with the swap.

as far as i know if u use a 1.5 block and a 1.6 head the timing belt will not fit so i think u will need a adjustable cam gear.. i think ur dizzy will work but u might have to modify the bracket a lil..

You dont need a adjustable cam gear...you have to use the d16z6/y8 timing belt...

You wont be able to use a z6 dizzy on the y8 head...im pretty sure your B8 dizzy will work

yes, you do need that timing belt, but it will be 1/2 a tooth off (4.75 degrees), which means you SHOULD get an adjustable gear. I'm sure you can live without one, but I wouldn't recommend it. They're worth it in the end, since you need to play around with valve timing for proper tuning. Also, I did this on a d15b7, not a b8, but it's basically the same procedure.

sorry, I forgot it was a y8 head. Mine was with a z6 head, which resulted in the 1/2 tooth off situation. If you're using a d15 block with a y8 head, the y8 cam gear will match up perfectly; sorry for the confusion. However, an adjustable cam gear is still a good investment with any mini-me. I could technically have used a z6 gear with my setup, and it would've worked, just not nearly at it's full potential.
