Please help me identify this head z6 y8 y5 y7??????
I got this head off a guy on Craigslist. Took it to the machine shop and everything was good. The thing is I have no idea what kind of head it is. It has a vtec solenoid. The solenoid is smaller than the one on my old head but the connections are all the same. Please help me identify it. It says p28 on the cam gear side and j7 on the dizzy side. I feel like its missing something on top??
Any input greatly appreciated.
Thanks

my first thought was Z6 as well, just from the look of the valve train. but i think it's a 96-98 Y8 because of the coolant port shape on the intake side. the Z6 has an irregular square shaped port while the Y8 has a round port. 96-98 because it hasn't go the "air injection" area or whatever that was for the 99-00.

Yeah The head code on the Z6 head I just got says P08-5. So it looks like you do have a Y5
Oh and the V-Tec has four ports one with the screen

Z1s had roller rockers as well. Seeing as how I have a complete Z1 out of a VX sitting outside right now i'll check the head code tommorrow when its light and see what it says.
Edit, never noticed the P2J-7 part or the '96 date stamp, definately a Y5.
