i was just wondering what the difference is in the heads for a d16z6 and a d16y5, i know the y5 is vtec-e, but more specific....

also, what are the codes stamped on a y5/z6/y8?

any help is appreciated, im trying to figure out what head i have laying around, and if its worth the effort. thanks in advance

 

 

Y5 has curved divider, roller rockers on the intake side, and quench pad chambers. Z6 has none of those.

 

can z6 internals be used in a y5 head? does anyone know the number stamped on these heads so i can know what i have?

 

No they can't. Y8 internals can.

Just look at the rocker arms and that will tell you.

Yes, but you have to get Y8 intake rocker arms.

actually the d16y5 head is the same p2j casting as the d16y8.
