Piston ring replacements
I have an old d15b7 and was thinking of doing a mini swap. I think the piston rings are going because it is burning some oil. I am wondering if it is hard and how costly to replace the rings and probably pistons while i am down there. Or if i should just buy a new B16a and swap that in. Thanks for any help

Re: Piston ring replacements (civicdxcpe)
Pistons rings depending on where you purchase them can range from $20 a cylinder to $40 a cylinder.
Now before you replace those you need to measure to see if its worth fixing up that motor, given you will need a new headgasket, head bolts, ect ect

If your going to BUILD BUILD a motor for turbo ect. i would replace the main/rod/head bolts with ARP's. might as well do it while everything is out. u will need a new headgasket. piston rings shouldnt be to much. try shopping around. i know prostreetonline carries alot of OEM parts. might wanna try there

only run OEM rings. You'll need to hone your cylinders tho. Most of the time you can get away with running a berry bush with some ATF through them real quick. Don't expect it to last as long as a fresh build before it starts burning oil
If you are going to do it, do it right.
