I just swapped a "poor mans type r" (b18c1 block with b16 head) with a p30 ecu in my eh2 and it runs perfect, it just constantley threw codes. First it was a Code 22 and 23, so i put on a new vtec solenoid and rewired everything. Then it was fine and ran perefect for like 5 miles and then i get a code 13 (baromectric pressure). So i check all the vacuum leaks and i re-run some new hoses and it works. Another 5 miles and code 22 and 23 come back! But with these codes i thought i was unable to have vtec (is that true?), but even with these codes it ran like a champ, hit vtec screaming all the way up to 7500 rpm. So i decide to try out my friends chipped p28 ecu, and now the car runs perfect with no codes, and ive been driving it for 2 days. My question is, is my p30 ecu f'in everything up and throwin usless codes and my car is fine? Or is the chipped p28 just bypassing all these codes? Is there anyway to find out if my car is truely throwing these codes?

haha man i know what your talking about......i have a B16a on a P30 and it will throw a code after like 4k rmp.....runs perfect so i had a chipped P28 in it and i had no codes but real REALLY bad gas mileage and the smell was quite possiblely the worst i have ever smelled from a car. so i am back to the P30. also know that a chipped ECU can over ride the codes and make you think nothing is wrong.
