Default P28 ecu running an OBD2A GSR

Ok when I first bought my car 98 ek it had a obd1 d16z6 with a virgin P28 ecu and jumper harness. I blew this engine and had a shop in Dallas swap in a obd2a gsr engine, with a p72 ecu. I was having problems that you can read about here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2357677

So while sitting and trying to think about what could be causing this problem I remembered the p28 ecu sitting in my closet with the jumper harness. So just out of curiosity I unplugged the p72 and plugged in the p28 and my car started idled fine and cleared 2 cel (no up stream o2 sensor, and Idle control system malfunction)

My question: Is it ok to use the virgin obd1 p28 ecu rather than the factory p72? Can anyone tell me how different the fuel maps for the p28 from the p72, I know the d16z6 is a 1.6l and the b18c1 is a 1.8l so will the p28 run a more lean mixture than the p72?

In the post ^there I think the problem with the rev-limiter comming in at 5k rpms is caused by the ecu.

A stock P28 is gonna run too lean to run a GS-R properly, also the vtec engagement point and rev limiter wont be where they should be. But if you get it chipped with GS-R basemaps you will be fine.

Ya I figured it would run too lean. I got excited though when the cels were gone though.

If I get the p28 chipped with a gsr base map will the butterflies on the intake manifold still function? and will I have to replace the obd2a dizzy with an obd1?

No and no, just make sure the secondary butterflies remain open at all times.

installing IAB to the p28 is an option.

IAB -> Intake Air Bypass, otherwise known as secondary butterflies.

could a virgin p28 still run the vtec on a gsr? I have an ls vtec but it at the p28 vtec crossover (5500 rpms) it just cuts out like the rev limiter.
