Overheating problem Help !!!
i have a 93 civic coupe D16z6 motor and when i drive on long trips the car starts overheating the needle creeps up and then comes down after a while
i took out the thermostat and the car overheats at idle and the needles creeps up and down when i drive.
im thinking its the cooling temp. sensor ??

Replace the thermostat with a new one,its there for a reason.Look around for any leaks and feel both of the rad hoses with the car warmed up,they should both be the same temperature,if not probably your water pump is going or you have a blockage in the system.
check if the fan is coming on..if not test the temp sensor most likely its bad..if its been a while since you last changed the antifreeze or flushed it you might want to flush the whole system and replace it as well.

There also could very easily be an air bubble in the system, like he said, flush it out replace thermostat, and you should be set! oh, might help to check fan relays too

Re: (petelsb18)
Also, check around the IAC Valve, (it should be behind the intake manifold)...
Sometimes the hoses that connect too it tend to leak and cause other problems. Keep in mind everything eveyone else has told you.
Good luck

if its overheating when the thermostat isnt in the car, it means you dont have enough coolant in there. If you just filled it up then you have a leak somewhere sir.
