stick to lock in place? i don't quite understand the question. please elaberate.
are talking about the gear shifter or the auto shifter? if it's the gear shifter once you put the shifter in gear it autmatically stays in there. if it is popping out then there is a problem with your tranny.

It is the shifter and when its in a gear its not locked into place... meaning like while im driving in 5th gear lets say... i can still move the stick around freely. i was thinking maybe there was a bushing or something missing that holds the stick in place while in gear.

Your whole shift linkage isnt tightened down. Go under the car and look around at whats up down there. Also check on the tranny the straight might be loose as well.

I figured it out.. whoever did the swap skimped out on the linkage and used a wrong size bolt (way to small) now i have one more problem to fix before boosting.. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1624862
