need help! can't get the crank pulley bolt out
i have a 95 civic with 94 gsr swap and the timing belt snapped when it was idleing in front of advanced auto (conveniently, not). i no the valves aren't bent. i can't get the crank bolt out. my mechanic let me borrow his works impact gun and it didnt work so he let me use his crank holder and i snapped the end off when i was using the breaker bar method. what else can i try? thanks in advanced.

Aside from a big impact gun, the tool designed for doing this that slips inside the crank pully but goes around the crank bolt is the best way to do it. Where your crank is spinning freely, your best bet is that tool+air. I would recomend you buy another one and try again.

Re: need help! can't get the crank pulley bolt out
I once had to use a torch to heat the stubborn crank bolt.
I then used the crank holder and a breaker bar and broke the bolt loose with relative ease.
Good luck...I know it's not fun.

I dont recomend heating it. You'll melt the oil pump seal and I would be worried about causing damage to the crank and oil pump.

either 1" impact gun with torch or torch with man legs and breaker bar.

My uncle accord was having the same issue, we took it to a wheel shop, and they try big 1000 ft impact with no luck.
Use the proper tools or the flywheel method with long cheater bar (1/2 breaker).

A one inch drive impact? Since you don't own one, im guessing you certainly don't have a compressor capable of keeping up with that. Do exactly as RonJ has said, soak it with PB Blaster over night and using the crank tool, any half decent half inch drive impact gun should work fine. I have seriously never had this much trouble with a crank bolt. I broke one once and the remaining piece of the bolt came out by hand.

Buy "Aerokroil" it is aircraft grade penetrant that works better then any other i've tried. its expensive but its worth EVERY penny. only got to let it soak an hour or two.
