2000 Si. good deal?
Hey guys. I'm new here and I'm thinking of buying a 2000 Si for $4800. I was wondering if this is a good deal or not.
Clean Title
146k on chasis
73k on motor, B16
73k on gsr tranny
AEM cold air intake
stage 3 clutch
9.5 pound flywheel
2.5 inch exhaust
NGK performance spark plugs and wires
lowering springs and kamers
carbon fiber hood
and rims(not sure what brand)
here are some pictures of the car
Please tell me what you guys think. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Re: 2000 Si. good deal?
fair warning, you're gonna catch A LOT of flack for that rear bumper and those wheels. just so you know.
on to the car. for a real si 4800 actually isnt that bad. but it looks like it was repainted (badly at that) during some time in its life. that thing looks more like baby-blue than the factory electron blue pearl. also, the headlights are in poor condition. its probably spent a lot of time outdoors. depending on where you live that may or may not mean that somewhere it has rust. I would advise bringing two people with you since no offense, you sound like you're new to cars. the first would be someone who is from a body shop or has personally done bodywork before. NOT SOMEONE WHO READ SOMETHING ABOUT BODY WORK SOMEWHERE. they're going to want to tap around on the fenders to check for bondo and look closer at the paint, because even from those pictures that paint looks like it could be better. the other guy you'll want to bring is a mechanic to listen to the engine and go with you as you test drive it. he'll be able to tell you everything, even if there is no check engine light. pay close attention to the guy you're buying you. it will tell you a lot about the way the car was treated. if he seems unorganized, he probably didnt take the best care of it while he owned it, and that motor might not last forever or be in the greatest shape. also, if he seems like he thinks of himself as a hardcore racer, that motor has probably been abused. i would avoid buying the car if either of those are the case. Truthfully i wouldnt recommend buying it at all. the clean title is worthless. it could still have been wrecked in the past. and since the paint appears to be redone, it probably was. just my .02. good luck with whatever you decide to do.
edit: rust may not be a concern, but i'd still look out for redone panels (i just noticed the cali plate =s )

note the peeling spots on the bay. specifically on the drivers side and on the radiator support. another reason for me to think this was repainted poorly sometime during it's life. check ALL the vin numbers on the body panels to make sure they match when you look at it.

I have shaved side moldings on mine too...did it myself...so I trust my work...but I would be cautious of that part.
See if he has a contact number for his body work guy...figure out of it was welded/fiberglass/filler/glazed....or just fiberglass and filler or what combination he used.
If they just used filler alone...no bondo-hair or something at least instead of welding...there is a good chance it will crack...looks like they did a pretty clean job though with whatever they used.
Not a big fan of the rims...and the back bumper. Good news is somebody else probably will and you can probably make a chunk of change selling them both.

you should pass on that car because its been repainted and its not even it original color you can tell it was black before because when you open the hood you can find a way better deal you just have to wait i mean i bought my 2000 honda civicsi for 3k with 130k only bad part about it its a salvage

I'd pass.....
- not crazy on the color or the wheels
- missing from lip
- looks dumb with only a rear after market bumper, it's out of place
- fold in mirrors, from a rhd drive are gay
- looks like it was involved in a good accident on the front pass side....look at the front bulkhead, it's crinkled up there still

ive gone through many si's and ill tell you that thing is a disaster. first of all its all riced out. major turn off for any true enthusiast.
second the car is way overpriced. maybe in fast and furious world that car is worth gold but in the real world that's a $3000 car
not like it even has low miles
ridiculous
