My 92 LX is overheating

My 92 LX is overheating
i drive a 1992 honda civic lx.
the entire car is stock, no modifications at all.
the car has almost 90000 miles on it.
about a month and a half ago, while i was driving, i noticed the heat gauge maxed out. i immediately pulled over and lifted the hood. Also, i called my uncle who is a certified honda mechanic for almost 20 years. turns out the original heater hose blew, thus causing overheating.
he came to where i was with a new one, and everything seemed okay. then, about 3 weeks back, i noticed the temperature gauge fluctuating, almost to redzone. again, i called my uncle.
he had me bring it to the honda shop where he would look at it. he thought that maybe i warped the head when it last overheated, or something of that nature. turns out it was the head gasket was damaged, and exhaust was leaking into the radiator, thus causing fluctuation. he replaced the head gasket, along with other necessary parts, and concluded that the head was fine.
I paid 150 dollars and waited two weeks for my car, and went and got it back today. not even 20 minutes after having it, the temperature gauge started fluctuating. i was furious. i was told everything would be fine now.
clearly it isnt. my question to the hondatech forum is, "What do you think is wrong with my car?"
its not the head gasket, its not a warped head. all hoses are intact to my knowledge. is there anything else that it could be?

How do you know the head is not warped? Was the head milled flat prior to reinstallation?

Re: My 92 LX is overheating
Change thermostat or at least test it out. Boil a pot of water and put the thermostat into the pot. After a certain temperature, it should start opening up. You can actually see it. If it doesn't then replace it.
To RonJ@HT - good title lol

im surprised your uncle didnt try a new thermostat and hoses from the start to be honest. youre looking at ~40 bux and an hr worth of time.

well i cant recommend anything, because i just feel that would be disrespectful, and he already does all the work on my car.
how certain is everyone that it would be the thermostat?

Re: My 92 LX is overheating
just about everything else that would cause a heating issue has been eliminated or ruled out already. the more people know about the little intricacies the more often they are to lose sight of the big picture
