Default Missed a shift

I was coming into my school this morning when a jackass cut me off as soon as i was about to turn, so i had to get back into traffic. I had to get on it so that i could make the gap and as i tried to shift into second i missed it at almost redline. I definitly grinded second real nasty. But i didnt hear the motor overrev. But i wanted to know if i could have possibly messed something up. It drove fine afterward, but i still have that "what if" lingering in the back of my mind.

Not when your that high, rev limiter can only do so much, after that its a mechanical rev were the limiter says "see ya".

If you messed something up, you would have known right away. I'm sure it's fine.

I missed a shift on the freeway; first second first. Everything seemed ok, but when you listen really carefully you can make out a high-pitched whine at certain speeds. I threw the input shaft bearing. I didn't catch it right away though, it was hard to hear.

If it's a D-series tranny, Honda has actually told me this is a design flaw and the ISBs go out on their own anyway. Like the two transmissions I have here. Once from a Y8 and one from a Z6. I've been driving the Y8 daily for about three years with it like this.

Yes, it is the y8. But im sure everything is ok. The motor and the transmission have never missed a oil change date. I had no problem driving it after it happened. But it always has that "I screwed something up" effect that goes on in the back of your brain.

just be careful for a little while...i thought everything was absolutely fine when i did the same thing...went to shift into 4th from 3rd, hit a pot hole and ended up in 2nd for less than a blink of an eye...thought everything was good cause the car ran fine for the next 3 months until the motor started knocking and eventually blew after about 2 days of knocking, and the bearings in the trans were gone too..so be very careful...i had/have the y8 as well

It's fine, if something happened you'd know the second it happened.

Forget about it and move on.

completely NOT true..my motor was exactly the same..never missed any kind of maintenance..i miss shifted and thought everything was absolutely ok. only thing that DIRECTLY effected the situation was my CAT completely clogged and i lost flow through the exhaust, that was the only thing that happened THAT day..got that fixed..car ran better than ever, minus the noise the trans made from the bearings being effed. motor eventually blew up...OP: just drive cautiously, try not to beat on it (if you even do) as much for a little while just to be safe

Well, i drove it home today after school and everything seems fine. No abnormal noises and such. I got on it when i hit the freeway and it performed just as before, so needless to say, im not worried about it.The transmission feels fine. IF something is messed up and down the road i spin a bearing i will have it fixed. But we can only hope that doesnt happen.
