the rev limiter will kick in before you damage your engine. so find out what your rev limiter is and shift right before that point.

I hope you mean when to shift for racing.

I wouldn't shift past redline, not the fact you'll damage anything(that's what rev limiters are for) but you probably dont make power up there, especially with a stock motor.

Yea, I'd say like 2500-3000 in normal conditions. But if you're in the need for speed bring her up to about redline, you really don't make much power after redline which is one of the reasons for the redline.

Well this was just my case. There are many other variables to 1/4 times than just where you shift at...

i have a 94 civic with a d16z6, i only redline when racing....taking past 7200rpms isnt really gonna hurt it if u do it only when racing and not everyday. i hit 8000 in 1st gear once when i was trying to make it from a stop light to the left lane so i could make my turn.... not smart, it'll **** up ur car.

besides, when ur racing u wanna shift as quck and fast as possible, in the d16 theres really no point in going past 7200, ur not getting any more power.
