Default leaking sunroof ??!

i have a 96 civic ex coupe with pwr windows/locks/sunroof. but im having a water leak problem...

when i first got the car it had been sitting for almost 2 1/2 years! the trunk had about 3-4 inches of rusty water in it. luckily all that rusted were the spare tire and jack. the floor of the trunk is in good shape. i find one of the sunroofs drain plugs was unplugged on the pass. side of the trunk. i replaced the drain plug but it isnt a tight fit. can anyone suggest something that would seal these drain plugs in the trunk?

the inside of the car is the important part. the carpet smells like wet dog and it looks the part. i noticed that the floors of the back seats were a little damp after every snowfall/rainfall.

should i start pulling interior panels and check the 2 front drain plugs? (my buddy says i have 4 drain plugs for the sunroof, 2 in each corner of the trunk and 2 running down the front door pillers and somewhere in the dash. can anyone verify this?) or should i spend the time/$ on replacing the weather stripping in the trunk, doors, and sunroof?

thnx in advance for every ones help

think your best bet is going to be to replace the carpet and backseats, or you'll never get the smell out. While you're at it, pull the interior panels and figure out what's up with your drainplugs. Have a friend spray water all over the car with you inside to see where it's coming in at.

I feel your pain, I hate chasing down waterleak crap.
