knock sensor malfunction
I have a 2000 civic ex that is throwing a knock sensor check engine code. I have replaced it and it still throws the code, I have driven with a volt-meter hooked up to the sensor and verified that it is functioning properly. I was thinking that maybe because my exhaust is very loud that maybe it is causing the problem considering that the knock sensor is essentially a microphone. If anyone has heard anything about the exhaust causing a knock sensor misreading please let me know, otherwise any thoughts are welcome.

Re: knock sensor malfunction
either the knock sensor is bad even though you tested it in which case you'll need to replace it. or as you suggest, your exhaust might somehow be causing it to throw funky readings. i've never heard of that but if it is the case then you'd have to either change your exhaust to something quieter, or convert your car to obd1 and run a p28. there is unfortunately no good way to bypass a knock sensor. people have tried and achieved **** poor results at best.
