Default Idle Surge

I've swapped a H22A into my 93' hatch and it has a very hard time finding the correct idle speed. Even after the car is up to running temp it sometimes still doesnt idle at a constant rpm. The vehicle runs fine and the idle surges doesnt seem to acutally affect anything just a continues rev between 1500-2000rpms. If anyone has had this problem or knows the fix please let me know.

most likely its a combination of two things: your fast idle thermo valve (a plastic ring needs to be tightened up) and your IAC motor. i had the same thing. fixed the FITV and replaced my IAC motor. now the car idles very nicely. good luck with all that in your H22 hatch.

i would check for vaccum leaks first. then i would clean out the IAC motor or just get a new one. i would also look into problems with the throttle body
