Yes it is under the crank pully in OBD2 engines. Important enough that the OBD2 ecu requires the signal.

When i first did my swap....i forgot to connect that and it would turn on but wouldnt stay on unless i would give it gas....my opinion...VERY IMPORTANT!

I had that code for a little bit after I pulled my motor for the first time (then put it back in). The timing belt rubbed a hole in the wire and cut through a few of the wires..
It's not the kind of code that will make your car run any different, but that cel is really annoying.

I am taking into the shop that just replaced the engine today. But, damn. This car is getting irritating.
