help routing ducting from the front bumper to the short ram filter
anyone have any pics of custom routing ducting from the front bumper to a short ram intake filter?
I'm guessing take out resonator and rout some duct toward the filter but I dont know the best way to do this.
any explanation or pics of how to best do this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

heres mine. rain ducting from front grill to hole in wheel well (where a cai goes) and flex dryer tube from rain duct to airbox. (stock LS intake)
i call it, the ghetto $5 icebox
hope that gives u some idea.
i dont know about any HP gains, but i noticed better gas mileage

I just used black dryer ducting. And routed it up where the CAI would go. And into the stock air box with a spoon filter. No chance of hydro-locking the car makes me feel alot better.

No need to be cheap.
He was pointing out how cheap a REAL cai was.

routing duct to stock airbox, ghetto icebox
I think for now I'm just going to remove resonator and rout some duct up to stock airbox.
yes, I don't want to buy a CAI right now, just rout some duct up after removing resonator.
any tips on how to rout so it will not hydrolock ? I'm guessing just dont face the end of the intake duct right down toward the ground where it will suck up puddle splashes or where its going to be sucking in rain when cruising at high speed.
just put intake end where resonator was ?
just imitate the Comptech Icebox duct routing?
thanks
any pics would be great, been searching , can't find any worth much

check this post.
best one i've ever seen.
I think this just might be THE BEST intake setup you could possibly do!
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=503374
he also did a heatshield, check page 2.
very nice, and very logical too.
you get the col air of a CAI, and the high rpm power of a shortram. or all the benifits of a js racing setup. The heatshield is nice too cuz it keeps the hot engine air from "sneaking in" and messing with all that nice fresh stuff coming in from the bumper.
might not block 100% but i'm sure it helps a great deal.
of course.. he was running a 200whp built jdm ITR... so if you have stock motor.. you really dont need all this, and probly wont see much if any gain over any normal intake setup.

Thanks to Ian I got that the same set-up, but with an AEM intake(used to be a CAI but was to scared of hydrolock, and it has a little more throttle response with the short ram.)

Not everyone wants to lose throttle response for the midrange spike you get from a CAI.
