help! IS this misfire?
Hi Guys,
I have this 95 civic CX, with D15B7 motor, with 190K km, she runs good, no lose of power, does not burn oil, I still get 6L/100km gas mileage (that is 40 MPG).
But recently I noticed that she farts, I thought that was misfire, so I replaced the plug wires, put in 4 NGK plugs, replaced the distributor rotor and cap, replaced fuel filter today, but she still farts.
What can be the problem? 2 of the old plugs have this white powderish thing, so I guess it is lean burning? the other 2 looked normal.
Here is a video showing the exhaust sound, or, btw, the muffler was replaced about 1 year ago.
Do you guys think it is misfire? OR I have leaks somewhere in the exhaust pipe?

Thanks guys!

Re: help! IS this misfire? (Hexar)
you say that you recently noticed; does that mean that it didn't do it before and now it does, or you are not sure?
i wonder what it does if the rpms are held at 1k...then 2k.
i'd be more interested in that, and also to see what's going on at the engine end vs. the exhaust end.

Re: help! IS this misfire? (RonJ@HT)
Thanks RonJ, is there a post on how to do timing check? Thanks!
I probably need to change the timing belt (last one was changed at 70K km, at 140K km interval, that will be at 210K).

Re: help! IS this misfire? (builthatch)
Thanks Builthatch!
I did not notice it before, it was my wife's car, I only get to drive it sometimes on weekends... and there is no tacho meter, so I don't know the exact RPM. Tomorrow, I will check if the popping sound will disappear at higher than idle RPMs.
The popping sound can only be heard from the exhaust pipe end, in engine bay, I don't hear it (well, I can hear the popping sound if I stand infront of the car, but the sound is from the end of car, from the pipe end.)
Thanks!

Re: help! IS this misfire? (RonJ@HT)
Thanks RonJ again! I will try to do this tomorrow! I am kind of new to Honda... bought a timing gun long time ago and have not used it...
when it says "connect to #1 plug wire", does it mean actually connect? How?
And when my car does not have a tacho, usually how to check the idle RPM or RPM at 750?
Thanks!
