HELP: How do I open the hood if the cable release is broken?
Hi there,
The cable release for my hood either came off or broke, and I now I can't open the hood. Tried to pull the cable by hand with pliers with no success. Any ideas?

The hood release cable runs from under the driver side fender.
If the cable is still attached to the hood. You can pull the cable out from your fender, get some piliars and pull the metal cord. You would need to pull it hard, pull it with all you got.
You will hear a tooooood, and notice your hood is opened.

thanks for the reply. I think the cable popped off the hood release mechanism. I used some pliers to pull it, but it kept popping off the hood release handle nt he car. I can't get to the bumber to remove that eithert. I will try the plier trick again, then time with something to force the sheath back (something stronget then the plastic pull handle) > Any other dieas welcome.

well, I managed to get to the bolts that hold the hood latch to the chassis.
I was able to remove them (this car was in an accident, so the front there's a gap of about 1" between the replacement bumper and the hood.
Once I got those out, I was able to pull the hood up.
I am going to replace the hood latch release cable and hopefully that will fix the problem.

okay ******......you know who you are, get out the tech forum!
This guy needs some real help.
If you jack your car up you should be able to see the hood release
latch. If you pop it open with a screw driver your problem will be
solved.......Try to push back the lever that keeps the hood closed.
