Default Help with 96 Civic B16 swap.........Need info!!

I am going to swap a B16a3 into a 96 civic EX coupe. So far I have the engine and tranny, Integra axels and half shaft, Integra rear mount and bracket, Integra shifting linkage, OBD1 siR ECU and Hasport OBD2 to OBD1 harness. I have held off on buying the rest of the motor mounts because I am getting alot of MIXED info!! Half the people I talk to say that the only mounts that need to be swaped are the rear tranny "Integra" and drivers side "99 civi SI". I have looked for the 99 SI mount and most places are saying its the same from 96-00 no matter what model. They look the same to me. If I use the whole mount including the part that bolts under the timming belt cover will the EX work?? I am also uncertain if the Dizzy harness needs to be repined for OBD1 I am so close to getting started but I cant get a straight answer on what I need. This swap is not as common as I thought. I cant afford to just go buy it if I dont need it!! Please help!!

I found some cool stuff at Honda today. I matched up part numbers from 96EX to 99SI.
Here is what I found. The engine mount is the same but the bracket that comes off the block is different. The side tranny mount is the same as is the bracket. The back mount, bracket and lower tranny and mount need to be 99SI or Integra. As far as rad hoses I just bought all the stuff from the Teg. I didnt want to be without when I was doing the swap. I am still a little unsure about the wiring soooooo if anyone has any cool links hit me up!! I am new at this so if there is a thead about this swap that I havnt been able to find please let me know.

Ok ill make it easy on you. Stop and think for a second with me. Have an EK. Youre planning on putting in a B16. Now what car did the B16 come in? It came in an EK (well EM1) the 99-00 Si. So when it comes to mounts/shift linkages/axles.

The axles for a B16 and B18 are different on the tranny side. I learned that the hard way (I have a ITR in my civic). Youre gonna need Si axles.

If the motor is OBD2 youll not need repinning. If its OBD1 then you got some work ahead of you. find the wiring diagrams for the two OBDs and jsut match up the wires.

As for the wiring ill make life easier for you and give you my write up:

just buy a new driver side mount from like avid or hasport or whatever sells them..it is way stronger than the stock ex/si driver side mount. i bought myself all new hasport motor mounts for the d/b series from hasport...the t bracket will need to be replaced with a 96 del sol dohc vtec one or a 99-00 si t bracket. if you don't use that, then your axels will be angled...

as for the rewiring, if you are running an obd1 motor in your obd2 vehicle, you will have to do some rewiring..not much but some...i forgot the site, but when i find it, i will surely post it up...

as for the axles...the b18's won't fit...i was told that they would, but they look different...you are going to have to reuse the upper tranny mount on the b16 tranny and i think you don't have a knock sensor on the d16 so you are going to have to add that wire in to your ecu...vtec and everything you have already in your harness...

if it is an obd1 engine, just reroute the primary o2 sensor to the back, so it will plug right into the sensor...other than that, everything plugs and plays...except for the fuel injectors, i had to replace them with 99-00 si's...some reason when i did my swap, it bogged like crazy cause i was told that i can just reuse my dx injectors...not true...plus..i had to start pumping in 92-93 octane...expensive man...

good luck with the swap...

one thing that will make life easier is to modify the harness that is on your car now. its a direct plug nad play. then just get a b series obd2 dizzy and slap it on the obd1 motor and your good to go.

hes putting a obd1 motor into an obd2 car.

so basically he needs to make the motor obd2 and then make it obd1 again with the ecu jumper harness.

Thanks for the help!! The reason Im trying to use more Teg stuff is Im kina on a budget and there are no SI parts around here. Anything I buy SI has to come from Honda!! $$$$$ I think I have almost everything I need now. I found some stuff on repining the OBD1 Dizzy to my OBD2 harness, so thats taken care of. About the axles.........You are saying that the Teg axle is cool on the half shaft side but the tranny side needs to be SI?? Whats are the differences between the two??

get 99-00 Si axles and youll be good. now if you have a B18 you'd need GSR axles.

I swapped a 99Si B16 manual into my 96 auto DX Coupe. My purchases were SI axles, SI rear bracket, del sol AC bracket, EX wire harness, which underwent some minor lengthening and shortening, manual trans psgr side bracket (because I had auto trans), and integra radiator hoses. I started with 99si ECU with OBD2a to OBD2b conversion harness. I could never eliminate all the CEL's for various evaporative emmissions crap. Ditched the 99si ECU and when OBD1 ECU and conversion harness. Have not looked back, but unfortunately, I have to pay a "premium" to get my inspection sticker every year.

Best I can recall, I used all my original mounts, just new brackets. Unfortunately, the life of the mounts was short-lived, which also shorted the life of my axles. Have since swaped in Hasport and new axles, and have been clean for over a year.

Well. I did my reserch and it payed off. YOU CAN USE INTEGRA AXELS!! I had no problems out of mine. I cross-referenced the part numbers at NAPA and they where the same. Here is what I ended up using........
JDM obd1 ECU W/hasport OBD2 to OBD1 harness
Rear tranny bracket 99 00 SI
Top tranny mount 96 00 EX
Tranny tourque mount 99 00 SI
Engine mount 96 00 EX
Engine mount bracket off block 99 00 SI
Shift linkage from Integra
Radator hoses 99 000 SI
AC plate/tourque mount 94 00 Teg
Axels form Integra WILL WORK!! If you have ABS get ABS ones. Non ABS axels wont work on ABS car but ABS axels will work fine in a non ABS car. "FACT"
B series header wont bolt to D series cats. The flange bolts dont line up.
As far as the dizzy goes, you can look at it and figure it out.
Thanks for all your help........Hauls ***
